Get comfortable, winter's here
I hope everyone has been enjoying the food so far, it's been a blast making something different every night. As a chef, a change of weather means a change of menus. The cold weather makes me think of hearty soups, stews and comfort food. I had a great time making a simple beef stew with my son. It was time well spent, and because he knew exactly what was in it--he enjoyed eating it! The stew was delicious and really hit the spot on a cold November day. Wholesome soups with some garlic toast are perfect for dinner that will warm and fill you up. On that note, I will leave you with a simple, fast and economical soup you can try at home in a pinch.

- Pedro

Both winter solstice and ecolicious packages work well dropped off at your chosen venue, or served. Bar packages are also available on request. 2% of your catering will go to The Stop Community Food Centre.

Vert Catering in the community
We have come up with a few words that sum us up at Vert Catering...food that gives. Giving back to the community and giving comfort through great food are equally important to us. This is what we've been up to in the community in October:

For the second year, we donated $200 worth of biodegradable plates and cutlery to the Amber Colony Pakistan fundraiser put on by Ryerson's School of Architecture.

Donated a gourmet dinner for 30 guests (cucumber cups filled with marinated feta, meat and lentil torchon pies served with garlic toast and mixed green salad) for Sketch's Volunteer Appreciation dinner.

Donated an in-house dinner for 6 (value $400) to Planet in Focus's silent auction.

We look forward to seeing you in the store soon!
